Re: how to start?
This is the advice I gave in my "Card Reading for Beginners" post on my blog: "So, you have your new deck in hand (don’t try to spread yourself too thin by getting several at once). The Prime Directive at this point is to simply use it. Many writers recommend going through the entire ...

Re: Which tarot deck are you?
Hmm . . . "You have refined taste and a real appreciation of beauty. You place a high value on the traditional cornerstones of culture. You see the world through the eyes of a romantic yet you possess the deep wisdom of the ancients. You feel a profound connection with a different time and plac...

Re: Thoughts on Etteilla
For me, it simply amounts to the time and effort required to learn yet another system, and one that is intricate to boot. I began with the Thoth long ago (early '70s) and only recently tackled the RWS and my new fascination, the Lenormand. I've also been toying with playing card reading and thinking...

Re: Parlor Game, Serious Divination, or Intellectual Pursuit?
I'm decidedly old-school (beside being old); I like to read for others for the face-to-face interaction (no online reading for me). When I'm reading for other people I look at the cards, not their facial expressions or their body language. I try to engage them in a dialogue about the cards on the ta...

Re: Things must be bad! LOL
We use Facebook to connect to family (but of course the younger ones have all moved on to Instagram). I have the free FBPurity add-on that eliminates all the unwanted garbage, and I never do FB quizzes. likes or shares, most of which I think is just data-mining by marketers. It has its uses, but I s...

Re: Thoth Adjustment (Justice) and time of day.
Take a cue from the natural zodiac. On the Vernal Equinox, Aries rises at dawn and Libra, which corresponds to Adjustment/Justice, is on the Descendant (sunset). So in the SWAG system of tarot timing, it looks like evening would be best. But don't quote me on that; ask your doctor.

Re: firefox and the forum
the forum now works on firefox, because i was supposed to incryption security and i didn't know it. But we're good now. I haven't had any trouble with the forum on Firefox, probably because I refused to install the latest major update when they made all of my favorite add-ons and plug-ins go away. ...

Re: Any bread-divas?
I bought a bread machine a while ago, used it once and shelved it. I like the tactile aspect of kneading since I can see how elastic the dough is. My main problem has been old yeast. I just discovered Bob's Red Mill Artisan Bread Flour. It rises perfectly (I do have a wood stove to put it next to, a...
