lol i’m supposed to be on a low carb diet but i LOVE sourdough, and that looks like melted ice cream. :icon_lol: i’ve never baked bread before but it looks very interesting!

it’s a lot like the ace of cups, but with gobs of yeast!

i did have a cronut the other day from a popular asian bakery in san jose. well, i spit it with my friend. it’s a croissant/donut combo and omg it was about the best thing i ever put in my mouth. what a decadent treat. flaky, buttery and sweet.

you should post the results of this runny mess, if you haven’t eaten it yet!

It was going strong last night, mutant bread, but this is why you’re not supposed to open the bread machine’s lid, I guess. I just wanted a sniff. I think I’ll just go back to using the machine to mix & knead, then bake in the oven. It tastes good though.

well, as long as it tastes good... it gets all chewed up anyway!

bread machines are amazing, aren’t they? my friend had one years ago. the bread came out in a tube shape but it was so yummy.

Hey, don't forget, sourdough is the least fattening. It has no fat in it. I would love to have some home made sourdough. I'm in San Francisco and sourdough bread has a very interesting history with San Fransicso. That is where it started because of the climate. My favorite too.

It’s SO easy to make. I’ve heard stories of sharing GGGgrandma’s starter...it’s just flour & water, equal parts. Takes a few days to percolate, but you can jump-start it with a bit of sugar for fuel. When it starts bubbling, it’s ready to use, the yeast keeps procreating overnight. SO yum!

Making sourdough yeast actually started thousands of years BC. The natural yeast in the air, everywhere on the planet, is cultivated, fed, with just flour & water. No need to buy a starter, just make it.

Well I confess, I'm not a bad cook but I'm not a baker at all. I've often wanted to make my own pizza dough but never have tried. But sourdough, how hard could flour and water be? If I ever make any I will let you know how it turned out. Who knows, I may be really good at it.
