Help Me with a Name

The Knight of Pentacles is traditionally seen astride a black horse. Given your understanding of the meaning of the card, what name would you give to the horse? Your help will be greatly appreciated! :icon_e_biggrin:

Re: Meditations On The Tarot

The HM could certainly be seen as being relevant to Steps 1 through 8. However, I don't see him in any of the action Steps. The HM exemplifies physical constraint and lack of physical action. That's why I find Anon's words, " (he) ... can only be moved from above." so insightful.

Re: Meditations On The Tarot

Yes! But, buried within all that Christian Hermeticism are absolute pearls of wisdom that I'm sure I wouldn't come across anywhere else. Such as this: "The Christian martyrs did not die for hypotheses, but rather for the truths of faith of which they were absolutely certain. The Hanged Man’s el...

Parlor Game, Serious Divination, or Intellectual Pursuit?

My interest in Tarot definitely falls into the "intellectual pursuit" category, overlapping just slightly into serious divination. I spend almost all my Tarot time studying the symbolism, history, and metaphysical adaptations of the cards. I spend very little time doing actual readings for...

Re: Thoughts on Etteilla

I'd answer in a more simple minded way. I just don't find the Etteilla art work attractive or helpful, and I especially don't like the minor arcana in pips. I depend on visual stimulation to spark my imagination when considering the cards, helping to conjure analogy, etc. Other decks just offer me a...

Meditations On The Tarot

Meditations On The Tarot - Anonymous I am currently re-reading this magnificent work. The book is about tarot symbolism from the perspective of Christian hermeticism. It is oriented toward Catholic history and experience. I strongly recommend the book for any serious student of the tarot. But be awa...

I've always stayed away from FaceBook. From the start, I had a real bad feeling about it. Hasn't changed.

Re: Sallie Nichols' "Jung and Tarot" - to buy or not to buy?

An excellent book for the serious reader. You will learn a whole lot more than just cards and spreads. Remember, the more background knowledge you have, the richer your experience with the cards will be. I will be re-reading this book very soon.

Any book suggestions?

I'm newly back to tarot after about a 30 year hiatus. I lost my previous library, so I'm currently rebuilding it. This is what I have so far, many of my previous books, and a number of new ones too. So, I'm busy reading, and re-reading! Please scan the list, and let me know if you think something im...
