I started this topic years ago at AT & it seemed to be a big hit. We’re all from various countries, with different local traditional foods, & sharing your favorites can enlighten everyone for creative new dishes! And I think I’m starting it with the same thing haha!

Stuffed peckers
Mashed ‘taters au gratin
Brussels sprouts

We're a boring couple of vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian empty nesters but if you insist :icon_e_biggrin:

big vegetable salad (red beet, kohlrabi, carrots...)
fried all-colour bell peppers with balsamico
green tahini (with parsley and garlic)

*off to google peckers and taters* (you don't really eat woodpeckers, do you... :icon_e_surprised: ???)

:icon_lol: you too could make stuffed peckers! Just stuff the peckers with TVP instead of hamburg. I used to do it quite often. Pumpkins also...oh, I so love kohlrabi...it’s really good in coleslaw, but I prefer parsnips to carrots. Perhaps that’s why I can’t see at night?

I meant you can stuff pumpkins also, TVP, onions, ‘shrooms, zucchini, etc. Bake the pumpkin like it was a dutch oven, lid & all. It’s very festive.

I’m sorry. Stuffed Peckers are bell peppers that are stuffed with something. Most commonly hamburg, ie ground beef. TVP is a must for vegetarians or vegans; Textured Vegetable Protein. It’s dried ‘crumbles’ that you rehydrate with water...really good stuff, & you can add spices of your choice. You can use it for meatless meatloaf, hamburgers, etc. Yes, ‘taters are potatoes, but when I mash them I always use cheese, hence the au gratin, it makes them creamy & fluffy. I hope this adds to your menu selections! But never buy a Tofurkey, they’re just nasty.

I stopped eating meat in 1977 and never ate TVP... :icon_lol: so I learned something new.

I'm sitting at work and was wondering what's for dinner when I happened to come upon this thread.

I think it deserves to be revived :icon_razz:

Any ideas on dinner tonight ?

I pulled a TdM major and got Sun Rx. I think this means to grill, since the fire is coming up from underneath.
